I met with Sean and Chrissy for our first in person consultation on a chilly Winter morning in February 2017. I remember Sean pulling out Chrissy's chair and her sipping the warm drink between her hands. I remember the way Sean held Chrissy's hand as she told me their love story. I remember Chrissy glancing over at Sean throughout our conversation with the eyes of a woman who felt 'at home'. After about an hour together I noted the respect, affection, and admiration they shared, as well as how much they made one another laugh.
Sean and Chrissy met in 2011 while studying abroad in Morocco. Weeks passed and after becoming inseparable while pursuing their degrees, it was time for Chrissy to return back to the United States. When Chrissy left Morocco a piece of Sean's heart did, too.
As I hugged them goodbye and headed towards my car, I went over their journey together in my head. How their time spent enjoying Moroccan cuisine, missing each other when an ocean was between them, and courting one another for several years led them to that very moment; hand in hand walking down a cobblestone Philadelphia street, departing from a meeting discussing their Wedding day.
Sean's best man gave a tear jerking speech during their reception and recalled a memory of how 'Sean seemed out of sorts, and as if something was missing from his life' once Chrissy left Morocco. Everyone in attendance sighed, smiled, or giggled because all who knew Sean and Chrissy knew from the beginning that their 'love in paradise' was never a fleeting romance...
